Real Wedding: Elena and John

Fat Cat PaperieReal Weddings

Designing the paper elements for Elena and John’s dream wedding was an absolute joy. Their style was classic and elegant with a hint of Gatsby inspired, art deco flair. In our first appointment, Elena’s sketch of a ribbon and wax seal evolved into a beautiful foil and letterpress invitation. Once they were designed and printed, we carefully wrapped each one with a ribbon and added a shimmery wax seal. We’re still so in love with the finished suite.

Once the invitations were in the mail, we created monogrammed wedding programs and champagne flute escort cards. Festive gold menus sat at each place setting to compliment the beautiful table numbers that Elena stitched by hand.

Here are some of our favorite photos of their big day captured beautifully by Cadence Kennedy.

About Elena and John and the journey to their wedding day…
John and Elena met almost 15 years before their wedding day, as high school freshmen at Saint Mary’s in Manhasset. After 10 years of dating, these high school sweethearts got engaged in April 2015 over lunch on the beach in East Hampton, where John works as a golf professional. They strived to create an elegant, Gold Coast affair to match their 1920s venue, the DeSeversky Mansion.  It was a night full of love, elegance, and personality, as John and Elena involved their family and friends in the planning of all the wedding details wherever possible, from the gorgeous wedding cake made by a family friend, to the vintage watch John wore from Elena’s great-uncle, to the wedding band made by Elena’s father for her mother many years before. No detail was left undone, right down to the table numbers embroidered by the bride herself.

And a sweet note from the bride and groom…
We felt right at home during our first meeting with Fat Cat; our wedding stationery was a perfect reflection of the character of the night and a great way to inform and entice our guests before and during the event! The wax seal monogram quite literally put a personalized stamp on the paper for this special union!
