Part 2: Keeping It All Together – Pockets and Bellybands

Welcome to Part 2: Keeping it all together. Today we’re going to focus on a couple more Fat Cat favorites — pockets and bellybands. But before we dive in, if you missed last week’s post make sure to catch up here. Bellybands This is another personal favorite. A bellyband is a piece of paper that wraps around the invitation. The rest of the suite (reply set, reception card and detail card) can be tucked under the bellyband either in front of or behind the invitation. Bellybands can be printed or unprinted on either textured or smooth paper. They can even be layered with twine or a ribbon. Pockets Pockets come is so many shapes and sizes (some of which we discussed …

Part 1: Keeping It All Together – Pockets, Ribbon and Twine

Welcome to the first of two posts explaining how to “keep it all together” — and no, I’m not referring to the emotional stress of planning a wedding ? I’m talking about the many ways to package your invitation suite together to create a beautiful presentation for your guests. Remember, you only have one chance to make a first impression so it’s important to put some extra thought and care into your invitation suite. For many of our clients, a beautifully printed invitation with complimentary envelope liner is the perfect presentation. But what about the rest of our brides? We often hear, “I want something that will continue to hold all the pieces together after my guests open the envelope.” This …

Bella Figura, Garnet, Navy invitation with Copper Shimmer Envelope Liner and Copper Foil

We Love Envelope Liners: Round 2

Envelope liners certainly aren’t an afterthought. They add another layer of depth to your beautiful suite and are the first thing your guests will notice when they open your invitation. When choosing a liner, think about the impression that you would like to leave with your guests. A solid envelope liner tends to have a more classic and traditional tone while floral illustrations add a romantic touch. Whatever you choose should reflect the taste and personality of yourself and your venue. This will help your guests understand the tone of your wedding. Today we’re starting with vintage illustrations. They’re charming to say the least and are a great way to incorporate flowers or greenery into your invitation suite. Specialty paper can mean …

Real Wedding: Elena and John

Designing the paper elements for Elena and John’s dream wedding was an absolute joy. Their style was classic and elegant with a hint of Gatsby inspired, art deco flair. In our first appointment, Elena’s sketch of a ribbon and wax seal evolved into a beautiful foil and letterpress invitation. Once they were designed and printed, we carefully wrapped each one with a ribbon and added a shimmery wax seal. We’re still so in love with the finished suite. Once the invitations were in the mail, we created monogrammed wedding programs and champagne flute escort cards. Festive gold menus sat at each place setting to compliment the beautiful table numbers that Elena stitched by hand. Here are some of our favorite …

Parfumerie + Opal Bevel, Engraved Wedding Invitation

Engraved Lovelies

If your style is classic, traditional and elegant, an engraved invitation might be the perfect fit. This week we’re showcasing a few of our favorite engraved designs from Arzberger, an invitation design and print studio that exudes traditional, southern charm. If you aren’t familiar with the process of engraving, here’s how the pros at Arzberger describe it… Engraving is an art which has endured for centuries because of its singular appearance and lasting impression. An engraved piece requires a metal plate that has been etched with copy or other artwork. The plate is carefully positioned in the engraving press, and the fountain is filled with ink. Before each stamping, ink is spread over the die and quickly wiped off, leaving only the etched …

This can be achieved by adding a purple edge paint to Smock’s “Avella” suite or a vibrant envelope liner as shown in “Ellory.” Greenery We love that we continue to see garlands and other greenery used as table runners and centerpieces. Organic, “fresh-picked” style bouquets are taking place of traditional blooms. This invitation by B.T.Elements uses kraft paper and hints of greenery, perfect for an …
