Invitation Printing 101 – Letterpress

Welcome back to Invitation Printing 101. Today we’re discussing my personal favorite — letterpress! The Basics First Look: • Indented impression • Matte ink • Usually printed on a textured cotton paper It’s great for: • Everything from classic to whimsical styles • Weddings, holiday cards, baby announcements, the list goes on…. • Designs with one, two or three ink colors It’s often combined with: • Foil details • Thick paper • Envelope liners Details There’s something about this antique printing process that I just adore. Letterpress printing uses plates to create an indented impression, leaving you with a beautifully textured surface on your invitation. The inks are translucent and soak into the paper so we recommend working with light-colored papers like …

Samantha Bridal Shower, Calipsofold Invitation, Keeping it all together

Part 1: Keeping It All Together – Pockets, Ribbon and Twine

Welcome to the first of two posts explaining how to “keep it all together” — and no, I’m not referring to the emotional stress of planning a wedding ? I’m talking about the many ways to package your invitation suite together to create a beautiful presentation for your guests. Remember, you only have one chance to make a first impression so it’s important to put some extra thought and care into your invitation suite. For many of our clients, a beautifully printed invitation with complimentary envelope liner is the perfect presentation. But what about the rest of our brides? We often hear, “I want something that will continue to hold all the pieces together after my guests open the envelope.” This …

Thank You, Thank You

This particular award is voted on by industry professionals, reminding us how grateful we are to be surrounded by such a wonderful and supportive network of local vendors. Today, we’re showing off a few of our favorite B&B Real Weddings. These North Fork weddings sure know how to show off some sweet and romantic style. Bella Figura, Garnet, Navy invitation with Copper Shimmer Envelope Liner and Copper Foil

We Love Envelope Liners: Round 2

Envelope liners certainly aren’t an afterthought. They add another layer of depth to your beautiful suite and are the first thing your guests will notice when they open your invitation. When choosing a liner, think about the impression that you would like to leave with your guests. A solid envelope liner tends to have a more classic and traditional tone while floral illustrations add a romantic touch. Whatever you choose should reflect the taste and personality of yourself and your venue. This will help your guests understand the tone of your wedding. Today we’re starting with vintage illustrations. They’re charming to say the least and are a great way to incorporate flowers or greenery into your invitation suite. Specialty paper can mean …

Lucie by B.T.Elements, Invitation with fun typesetting and twine and tag detail

Invitations by BT Elements

Today we’re featuring invitations by B.T. Elements. We’ve been carrying their lovely invitation line for a few years now and we can’t seem to get enough of it. B.T.Elements has two distinct but complimenting styles and our brides have fallen in love with both of them. Both albums carry a sense of rustic charm with laurels, arrows and kraft paper. Their “Ashton” album is quirky and whimsical. It’s perfect for non-traditional couples who love color and playful typography. Their “Marlow” album is refined and romantic. This charming album uses letterpress and foil stamping to compliment designs rich in floral and watercolor details. As invitation specialists, we’re so inspired by their fun font combinations. We love mixing and matching their papers, …

Melissa + Michael | Wedding Invitation, Letterpress with Metallic Bellyband

Celebrating Autumn Favorites

Happy November Everyone! This seems like the perfect time to pause and celebrate some of our favorite autumn couples — and show off their gorgeous invitations of course!   Diana + Jeremy This one is just SO pretty! Super thick paper coupled with this stunning floral liner make this the perfect compliment for Diana and Jeremy’s wedding at the New York Botanical Garden.   Melissa + Michael Seriously, one of the cutest couples we met all season. Organized Melissa came in with powerpoint notes explaining her invitation must-haves (and absolutely-nots too). This traditional invitation with monogrammed bellyband was exactly what they had in mind. The perfect match for their Flowerfield wedding.   Kristen + Tyler It was an absolute pleasure working with …

Deanna and Jason | Barn Wedding

Real Wedding: Deanna and Jason

This time last year, my evenings and weekends were spent carefully crafting rustic DIY projects for my spring farm wedding. Needless to say, I was so excited when Deanna walked into our studio over a year ago to discuss all the details for her own beautiful barn wedding. We soon realized we had a shared love of twine, whimsical fonts, woodgrain and LOTS of color. It was so much fun working with Deanna, her mom and her mother-in-law on everything from her save the dates to her rehearsal dinner invitations and finally to her oversized wedding day menu and adorable itinerary cards. I’m so excited to show off her and her Marine hubby’s gorgeous farm wedding. About Deanna and Jason… Deanna grew up in the …

Here’s “Part 2” of our most-loved wedding and party invitations from 2015… Katie and Rich Of course I had to sneak this in here! What kind of designer would I be if I didn’t love my own wedding invitation and save the date?!? —- Laura and Andrew I just love this in-progress shot of Laura and Andrew’s wax sealed invitations. These were eventually slipped into clear bags so that their guests saw this beautiful wax seal as soon as they opened their mail box. We think first impressions are so important and these invitations certainly make a memorable one! —- Natalie …
